Happy Birthday To You Sarah!

Birthdays are kind of important days. I mean, if you really think about it, why not celebrate the day that you made your first appearance on earth? Birthdays give you an excuse to center the entire day around yourself. You get to order people around, eat whatever you want, do whatever you want and demand gifts from those that you love, all with the excuse that "I can because I am pretty dang awesome, and oh ya, it's my birthday. Now feed me cake."

16 years ago today my little sister Sarah was born on a very snowy night. I was beyond ecstatic to have a sister and literally could not wait to get to the hospital and start being a big sister. She had the cutest, chubbiest cheeks (I'm talking on her face here people) and the most gorgeous strawberry blonde hair you ever did see. 16 years have past and she has grown into the most astonishingly gorgeous young woman I have ever seen.  Doubt me? Well, eat your words and check out this birthday girl:

I wasn't kidding. And Sarah, I just want you to know how much I love you! I think you are talented, sweet, good-hearted, loving, gorgeous, and an amazing little sister. I hope that you had a great day, and I know that wherever you go in life, you will go far, you have the heart and the spirit to do so!

Happy Sweet 16th Birthday Sarah!

i love me some peeta mellark

So.....

I got home from work today and I found this:

Nothing, and I mean nothing is more exciting than coming home and finding mail, let alone a package full of goodies addressed to you. Okay, maybe Disneyland and Christmas are more exciting...but a package comes pretty dang close. And what was in this package may you ask? Oh, you know, just these...

Let us have a moment of silence for the awesomeness that these shirts are....*silence*...and thank you! Have I ever mentioned just how much I love me some Peeta Mellark? The boy with the bread? The Hunger Game series? And the fact that I can express my love for this fictional character ANYWHERE I go? It just blows me away. Oh by the way, have you seen Josh Hutcherson lately? The young man playing my fictional love Peeta? Check him out. No seriously, check that hotness out.

DANG. I'm not disappointed. At all. Hellllooo Mr.GQ.The only thing that would make life better would be casting Zac Efron as Finnick. Can you imagine the gorgeousness? *Sigh* But until then, I shall show my full and complete devotion for the boy with the bread.

p.s. don't think that I won't wear one of these two shirts everyday...just sayin'

Daily Outfit: Plaid and Stripes

coat: thrifted, shirt: thrifted, jeans: thrifted, boots: ebay, belt: forever21

I am SO lucky when it comes to shopping for clothes at thrift stores. Well, I guess some days are better than others, but lately, I've been finding some really great vintage pieces. Take this coat for example; cute cut, adorable plaid print AND it's warm. It was just sitting on the rack at the thrift, just sitting there waiting to picked up and loved. And boy do I love it. And Em, thanks for taking the pictures. Look at those angles-good eye!

Thrift Finds Tuesday!

handmade owl salt & pepper shakers. i picked up one thinking that it was just a cute figurine and then later discovered, it had a mate! lucky me.

1960's red doll trunk/wardrobe. *eep* i could not pass this up! look at the sparkles on the inside, and oh my word, i have the cutest idea for a christmas display with this in mind!

1960's yellow day dress. my mom hates it. or maybe the idea that she had one just like it when she was younger? :) i absolutely love the fabric, the lace at the neckline is my favorite!

vintage fairytale book. i'm a sucker for books. i'm a sucker for fairytales. i mean, come on, look at how adorable the cover is!

vintage hand towel. why you would ever wipe your hands on this adorable piece of artwork...i just don't know. and i will admit, this was not thrifted. no, i have been eying this at work (the planted earth) for the past month. i told penny that it was going to a good home. yep, i'm definitely getting it framed.

Daily Outfit: Vintage Houndstooth Coat

coat: thrifted, skirt: thrifted, tights: walmart, shirt: thrifted, belt: thrifted, boots: ebay

Ok, do you want to hear an AWESOME story? So I'm at the thrift store today, right? I went in search of specific items telling myself all the while to NOT deviate to the clothes. All I can say is that I tried...I really tried not to look at the clothes. BUT had I not, I would not have walked away with the hounds-tooth trophy I am wearing. And to make the story better? This coat wasn't even in the coat section. Some girl had hidden it away in the vest section...odd, I know. I spotted the coat, snatched it off the hanger and watched as the girl who hid it wander aimlessly around for a good ten minutes before realizing that I had the coat in my hands and was walking directly to the cash register. Yes, sometimes it pays to be cruel. To all the kids out there, don't listen to me.

Daily Outfit: A Furry Little Bow

dress:thrifted, bow:vintage (given to me by cheryl), tights: thrifted, socks:dollar store, boots: thrifted (ebay), belt: h&m

Not too long ago I got an email from Cheryl, a dear friend from my Bunco group. Cheryl is a lover of all things vintage-yay! She thought she had some stuff that I might and enjoy, and boy did she ever! As part of the little bundle of treasures she gave me, the mink fur bow pictured in pic number two was included. I about died when I saw it. It is just so dainty and adds an adorable flair to any outfit. And what better way to show it off then having to say to the closing prayer in sacrament meeting today? Sure, it was absolutely terrifying, and sure, I was shaking a good 40 minutes after, but people got to appreciate the bow? Am I right, or am I right? Thank you Cheryl for the amazing vintage piece!

Daily Outfit: A Blustery Yellow Skirt

shirt: thrifted, sweater: buffalo exchange, skirt: thrifted, belt: thrifted, tights: forever21, boots: ebay

Utah isn't located near an ocean. So can someone please explain to me why we experienced hurricane-like winds all over the state today? I mean, really, 120 mph winds? I kind of wish it just would've have snowed instead, you know, to celebrate the first day of December. Now THAT would have been cool, not semi's blowing over on the freeway...
Anyways! I (along with my sister, Emily) braved the winds to take these pics. I found this skirt at the thrift store during one of my "snow white" highs. The skirt screamed "snow white" and so I kind of sort of just had to have it. It goes with anything and everything and I absolutely love it. The sweater was purchased at a thrift store in California during one of our many trips to Disneyland. And the tights? Well, who doesn't love a pair of floral loveliness?
